Causes

There is no telling what caused installed CC to go missing or become corrupted. They tend to coincide with adding new CC, or after updating, or after installing new packs.

So, it is a good idea to always keep current Backups, before you do any of these activities.

Actions

step 1: create backup

Have you created Backups when prompted before? No? Well, go and create a Backup of your User folders before proceeding.

step 2: rename folders

Rename Mods to Mods.old or something. Moving (cut+paste) it to Desktop also works.

step 3: redownload framework

Redownload the Framework again from Game Help:Installing Sims 3 Package Files/Setup and Files and place it in Tthe Sims 3 folder.

step 4: unpack and place framework

Extract the contents of the .rar file.

step 5: test

Test with only the provide Test files included in the Framework.zip. Load a NEW game.

  • Is the Intro video running, when you load a NEW game?
  • You can Quit without saving now.

If when loading a NEW game, the content shows up, try next on one of your save games.

  • Is the Intro video running, when you load your save game?
  • You can Quit without saving here, too.

Results

No video running at launch? Then, you're good to go. Place your content in the /Mods/Packages folder and they should show up now. Else, go to Next Step.

Next Step

Custom content located in the right place? Resource.cfg set up correctly? Sub-folder structure correct? Yet...content still not showing up?

This could be caused by badly made content, broken or corrupted files. Read on.
